Christmas CupCakes

I made two different types of cupcakes for Christmas.  They were both made using a Red Velvet CupCake recipe.  I decorated 6 as Rudolph Cupcakes and the other 6 using Cream Cheese icing and some glitter & snowflake decorations.

I got some nice Christmas cupcake boxes to pack them in, before I brought them to my Aunt’s house for a Christmas Eve party.

Rudoph is easy to decorate.  Just make a chocolate ganache – (melted chocolate & cream) or melted chocolate on its own would work too.  Then get some red sugarpaste and roll it into a large ball to make a big nose.  Get white & black sugarpaste to make the eyes and the mouth.  For the ears I used Pretzels.  You could also use Spaghetti or any type of stringy sweets.

For the other 6 cupcakes, I made a cream cheese buttercream icing which is very delicious, and piped that using a rose type nozzle over the top.  Then I simply sprinkled some edible glitter and whatever snowflake and sugar decorations I had.  I also put little candy canes on toothpicks in each cake, which looked good.  Both sets of cupcakes went down a treat, they looked very festive, but more importantly – they tasted good – which is just as important!  These cakes are ideal as Christmas treats and presents for family and friends.

Sugarpaste model baby boy

Here is a model of a baby boy I made using sugarpaste.  I used white sugarpaste, coloured it with blue and ivory for the skin colour.  The paste is easy to model by using cone shapes and some modelling tools.  This one is quite large and would need a big cake to sit on.  These models could be used with any colour – pink or yellow or any bright colour looks well.

Butterfly cake

This is a cake made for my 8 year old niece.  She loves butterflies.  I made this by shaping two 8 inch round sponge cakes.  I put cream and fruit in as the filling.  It is decorated with coloured sugarpaste and some sweets/candies including jellies and smarties.  This cake went down a treat and my niece was delighted with it.

World cup cup cakes for the finalists

I made these cup cakes or buns for the 2 teams that made it to the final, Spain and the Netherlands.  I decorated them with buttercream icing in the colours of the national flags.

Car cake

Here is a photo of a cake I made in the shape of a car and decorated with blue sugarpaste.  This cake was for a 3 year old boy who was very happy with it!  I made a light sponge underneath for the road and covered it in milk chocolate.  The wheels and main body were a simple madeira sponge made the day before.  The whole cake was devoured by kids and adults!
